Its a community effort

If you have seen Weavers sitting in their looms, peddling the footer and moving the shuttle back and forth, and think that's how a saree is made. Then you must have not seen the complete picture.

There is an entire community of people who work in absolute harmony to make a piece of fabric.
" Kula Kasabu" as they call it in Kannada, refers to the skilled practice of a profession/ vocation that is carried on hereditarily; a family vocation.
In this concept, each member of the family and the larger community plays important roles of value addition to the processes. The secrets of the threads are passed down generations, inheriting traditions and unique practices. Even as they continually evolve their practices to meet contemporary needs and tastes, the traditions remain carefully pressed within the folds of the fabric they weave. Weavers are the custodians of art and traditions that date back centuries.

In a collaborative effort that involves various artisans and craftsmen working in tandem, the yarns are brought to life in the form of soft, flowy beautiful fabric. From spinning yarn to dyeing it, from designing intricate patterns to embellishing the saree with embroidery or other decorative elements, there are numerous steps involved in the creation of a saree. Each step requires specialized skills and expertise, and it's truly a testament to human creativity and craftsmanship. The community of people involved in this process play a vital role in preserving traditional techniques and heritage while also adapting to modern trends and demands.
